Railway Reservation Counter Timings 2020: People all over India loves to travel during a vacation, holidays, or in any occasion and the easiest and the simplest means of transport used to travel is by train. The Indian railway system has the third-largest networking system spreading around all the coastlines areas, hilly regions, countryside suburban, urban region from extreme North to the extreme south, and from extreme East to extreme west all over India. One must be traveling by train to have the best possible spectacular and most unforgettable railway journey which will make it an easier and memorable one.

With various technologies and modern perspectives, Indian railway has increased its aspects and had become more effortless with time providing uncomplicated and hassle-free train ticket booking. One can easily book their ticket either by going to the reservation counter or can book the ticket via online process. Previously it used to be a hectic thing to go to the reservation counter and stand there in queue for ticket reservation but due to the advanced technology one can easily book the ticket through the IRCTC website or app available on a mobile phone with proper internet connectivity.

Impact of corona virus

Everything was going well and scheduled as before 2020 and the first three months of 2020 there was regular time followed for reservation of ticket by the people. The booking ticket in general quota had the opening hours for reservation from 8 a.m. to 8:30 a.m. while the people who will be booking for tatkal quota will have the reservation opening hour between 10 a.m. to 10:30 am. Further, if anyone wants to book that ticket in non AC tatkal quota then the opening hour of the counter was between 11 a.m. to 11: 30am.

But after March, this schedule has collapsed due to the spread of global pandemic of covid-19 virus. Previously there was lockdown in India and the Ministry of Railways of India had cancelled all the express trains along with the local trains all over India to avoid the spread of the pandemic. But since 3 months there has been restarting of railways all over India but there is less number of trains running in the route. 

Timing of railway reservation counters

The ticketing staff at the counter will issue the ticket based on the availability of tickets and you need to fill up the reservation form with your journey and personal details before going to the PRS counter. Due to the global pandemic situation, the schedule has changed and now the reservation counter of Indian railways in all stations will be opened between 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. Monday to Saturday and on Sunday it will be between 8 am to 2:00 p.m.

Rules for booking ticket for railway reservation tickets

Few rules have been made during this pandemic situation of covid-19 and one must strictly follow these rules while going to the reservation counter for booking tickets.

  • One can book 6 passengers on a ticket for general quota reservation and four passengers per ticket are allowed for tatkal reservation.
  • ┬áIn a month the users of IRCTC can book 6 tickets per ID and 12 tickets per ID can be booked by the person in 1 month if he or she has completed the Aadhaar verification of their account.
  • The reservation is allowed until the preparation of the first chart that is usually 4 hours prior to the departure of the train schedule.
  • After the first chat has been prepared current reservation is allowed for some trains where you can book vacant seats.

One must be very careful and prevent all possibilities of getting involved with the covid-19 virus for which they need to obey all the rules for proper safe traveling by train and prevent the spread of the virus.
