Refund (Ticket Deposit Receipt)

You can get a refund from the railway by filing a TDR (Ticket Deposit Receipt), as per existing rules citing reasons for not traveling. Since the chart has been prepared, you cannot cancel the ticket. You can file the TDR within one hour of the departure of the train from the charting station.

How much refund will be received for canceling a train ticket

If a ticket is confirmed and canceled 48 hours before the departure of the train, the cancellation charge will be

  • AC First Class / Executive Class: Rs 240 + GST
  • AC 2 Tier / First Class: Rs 200 + GST
  • AC 3 Tier / AC Chair Car / AC 3 Economy: Rs 180 + GST
  • Sleeper Class: Rs 120 + GST
  • Second Class: Rs 60 + GST (Cancellation Charge Per passenger)

If a confirmed ticket is canceled 48 to 12 hours before the departure of the train, then 25 percent of the fare will be deducted as a cancellation charge.

If a confirmed ticket cancels between 12 and 4 hours after the departure of the train, the cancellation charge will be 50% of the fare. No refund claim can be made if the confirmed ticket is not canceled 4 hours before or TDR (Ticket Deposit Receipt) is not filled online.

A refund will be given only if the RAC or waiting list ticket is canceled up to 30 minutes before the departure of the train.

If the train is late for more than 3 hours due to any reason, no cancellation charge will be taken on canceling the ticket.

If the train is canceled, then there is no need to fill the TDR on the e-ticket.

If the reservation is taken from the railway ticket window and the train is canceled, then the ticket can be canceled within three days, including the day of travel. There will also be no cancellation charge.

No refund will be given in case of confirmed Tatkal ticket cancellation.
